Flag History

The flag was created in 2013 by Morgan Carpenter of Intersex Human Rights Australia to create a flag “that is not derivative, but is yet firmly grounded in meaning”.

Intersex individuals and allies currently use Intersex flags and many themed items as an outward symbol of their identity or support towards the community. This design is a general symbol of social equality and individuality. In addition, there are many other flags and symbols used to communicate identities within the LGBTQ+ community.
