In the UK referendum on EU membership on 23 June 2016, Scotland voted favourably to remain as part of the European Union. By a narrow majority of 52% to 48%, the UK population voted to leave. Since that point, there has been a flurry of supporting towards Scotland gaining independence and remaining a part of the European Union.
