Vatican Flags | Vatican City Flags

These Vatican City Flags incorporate the original and official design of the Holy See. Despite being a relatively young country, the Vatican symbolism and representation is steeped in history. The flag of the Papal states, for example, was in use as early as the 7^th century.

After Pope Pius XI signed the Lateran Treaty with Italy in 1929, this flag was adopted as the official flag of Vatican City. Since then, it has become one of the most widely recognised flags in the world, with the Papal Tiara forming the undisputed centrepiece of this iconic flag. Vatican City is the smallest, but perhaps one of the most influential countries in the world. This Vatican Flag is the undisputed symbol of the Holy See and can always be seen in crowds during Papal visits.
