City of Culture 2021

The Coventry flag was the winner of a competition run by BBC Coventry & Warwickshire. The design features Coventry’s famous heroine, Lady Godiva, who represents the city’s ancient heritage, together with the cities strong principles of its people. The flag is broken into 3 vertical stripes of colour blocked blue and white. The two blues stripes represent the sporting colour of the City and the Coventry blue dye used in their historic textile industry. Whilst the centre white stripe represents the modern history of Coventry as a city of peace. The design is completed with a bold, black silhouette of the Coventry’s heroine Lady Godiva placed in centre focus.
